I run an intel core i7 7700k with a base clock of 4200 MHz. CAM reports the clock speed as 4500 MHz all the time. The BIOS on my MSI motherboard doesn’t show any overclocking activity, and Intel Turbo Boost is enabled. The only numbers I see are 4200 MHz. Could CAM be misreading something, or am I missing the right section? Does this difference really matter? I’m not experiencing performance issues, so I’m unsure if I should trust CAM’s reading.

The CPU isn't being overclocked without your consent. Certain motherboards may allow a minor overclock just for competitive benchmarking, but the increase is minimal and not a cause for concern.
Your system is operating within normal parameters. The i7 7700K is a powerful processor that should serve you well for years to come.

Overclocking requires understanding and advanced knowledge. I employ a few tools to monitor CPU performance, using HWinFO64 as my platform. I won’t inquire about your specific overclocking methods, but to offer accurate guidance I need the exact motherboard name and model number. The other aspect is, if you’re satisfied with the results, avoid pushing further overclocks unless temperatures rise significantly.

the boost clock reaches up to 4.5 ghz which is typical and won't damage your cpu.

I think I'll keep things as they are. The temperatures and performance are okay for me. I don't want to go overboard with overclocking, and I'm not really interested in altering my current situation. I just wanted to find out if my CPU was being overclocked without me knowing.
