I just tested the default configuration. It increases performance significantly, keeping everything at a high level. RAM consumption remained consistent. The only issue was that it began using around 2.2GB and rose to that level within 20 seconds. The GPU usage reached 58%, but it still hit the VRAM limit.

I support 1440p at nearly every high setting (advanced graphics), and my 770 stays around 1.9GB of VRAM! GTA V appears to utilize all available RAM when present, but less otherwise. It's odd how it behaves.

Occasionally, very seldom it reaches 3.6GB VRAM usage yet I don’t notice any slowdowns.

i have no problems at all. i use max with double aa and basic options, but it still uses around 2.5–3gb of ram or vram constantly, even after six hours of gta lol.

Changed all configurations to "default" and disabled Ao and tessellation. Played for an hour; VRAM consumption stayed between 3.1 and 3.3 GB. No stutters detected. GPU utilization remains around 50%. The default options are set to high/very high, which is acceptable. It might be a driver or game update later that resolves problems with 970s.
