Back then they released an update for Windows 8.1 that placed the logo in the bottom right corner of the taskbar to upgrade to Windows 10. I never managed to get it, which was really frustrating. I assumed the upgrade would happen automatically when Windows 10 arrived, but it didn’t. Now checking for updates on Windows 8.1 shows a message saying there was an issue finding updates. The only options I know are either not working or I need to take action. I really want Windows 10 and appreciate your help!

I’m confident this worked. Remove all files in c>windows>softwaredistribution<downloads>. Open a cmd prompt, type wuauclt.exe/update, press enter, then navigate to your control panel. Look for "Update" and install Windows 10.

I've tried this before and it keeps not working, three times already.

It functioned on my laptop, but I needed a complete reset, which brought me back to Windows 8. Now I’m stuck with regular updates and wondering if I can fix it again. The tricky part is it’s version 8, not 8.1, so I’m unsure what steps to take.
