You've just started playing Rust and it's a great experience, but the performance issues are frustrating. You manage around 60fps with maximum settings, yet it freezes every few seconds, making it unplayable. The problem seems to appear only on certain servers or when the game runs smoothly initially. Have you tried adjusting launch commands?

Have you explored triple buffering? If not available, you can install Rivatuner to enable it.

My core details are simple: I run without freezing issues. Could you share my basic specs—CPU, RAM, GPU—and whether this occurs on multiple servers? Also, does it happen consistently?

Your GPU might run low on VRAM, as it would switch to regular RAM which is slower. Do you have at least 8GB of standard system memory installed?

it's a messy, unpolished version still. it's in beta, so don't assume it will work smoothly.

It's an outdated game. It's still problematic, and even though I used to enjoy it, Steam forced a reinstall and things have gotten worse.

It's in early access, which gives them a reason not to make it better. It often performs poorly. Being old doesn't automatically mean it's simple to run. Performance changes a lot from week to week.
