I just conquered RE:7 for the first time today. I’ve been playing it for years, but after 20 minutes I was too nervous to tackle it until now after finishing RE8 and craving more. The game is truly exceptional! It stands out as one of, if not the best, horror titles I’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere felt eerie and gripping, and the story was outstanding for a RE game. Boss battles were original, and the puzzles were engaging and tougher than most others. For the first time, I actually needed a guide for an RE game after struggling with the Happy Birthday puzzle. I won’t spoil anything now, but that one was challenging! The only drawback is the limited enemy variety—besides boss fights, you get standard, oversized, and four-legged designs. What do you think? Is RE7 a masterpiece? Or did anyone miss something important? Thanks for reading!

It's a solid attempt. They attempted to return to the original intent, which was pleasant. For my perspective, the masterpiece title belongs to RE8.

I didn’t really connect with it, even though it seemed to have everything it needed.

I thought RE8 was a solid title but lacked that same gripping horror vibe. It mostly felt like an action-packed experience. I didn’t experience any real fear or stress while playing it. RE7 kept me on edge, worrying about what would happen next, but each victory brought me immense pride. I’ve played it for three years and until last week I rarely stayed longer than twenty minutes before giving up, mainly because the repetitive challenges weren’t appealing to me. But once I progressed past the Baker House, the game truly impressed me with its quality, and the early tough sections didn’t feel too harsh after all.

Absolutely. It seems Village is preparing for an updated RE4 version. The tone was definitely less horror-focused, which is part of what made it appealing to me. Among the titles I enjoyed were REmake and RE4. 7 came close but 8 perfectly captured the same vibe as the original in the coat of paint of 4, especially in the castle area. 7 emphasized careful resource management, while Village allowed more freedom—especially on easier levels. The latter felt more true to the RE spirit. I also liked 7 alongside 8, seeing it as a fitting addition to the series. Previously it stood out as an unusual choice, but now it fits seamlessly within the rich, chaotic RE universe.

Absolutely! It's a solid choice. Spend at least an hour before giving up—especially the first hour when things get tense and you're on the defensive. Once you have weapons, ammo, and healing items, the pace eases up, letting you explore and tackle the puzzles while facing some challenges. I struggled with it initially because it felt too intense and stressful, but after overcoming that early hurdle, I really enjoyed it. Now I consider it one of the best RE games, and I'm thinking about getting the DLC. The "Happy Birthday" puzzle stands out as the toughest I've encountered in this genre, and I've completed RE2R, RE3R, RE7, and RE8 before. It's a puzzle I'll never forget, unlike many others that fade from memory after they're easy.
