I know this is an aggressive OC for my 3600, and my cooler isn't enough to handle this amount of frequency, but all I was looking for was stability and so far it seems stable, as in no BSOD's or fuck ups, but it is way too hot. Would have expected it to shutdown or downclocked by now. Workload is a 4k handbrake encode, approx 25 minutes to run. I'm curious what is the maximum boost time for the Ryzen 5 3600? Maximum temp according to core temp was 109C. It is currently using 80W according to core temp, at 90C, because I manually turned down the boost to 4.0 GHz when it didn't do it itself.
Stealth cooler sounds a bit extreme. I’m not sure about the boost time, but my old CPU was 3600 MHz. Maybe I got lucky—without it, it stayed under 76°C even at 4.4Ghz all-core clocks with 1.3v.

My 3600 stayed at full speed without dropping while I pushed it high. It hit 105°C on my average SpinQ with Cinebench R23 before the intense heat became obvious and stopped the test. The safe temperature limit (when it stops) is around 115°C, which is higher than what I’d like. I wish AMD could design better chips for me.
4.2GHz, but I actually lowered it to 1.294V just to avoid a BSOD. I wasn’t aware I was using too much voltage. Thanks for the tip—yes, I’m aware my box cooler is not great, but it seems to cope. Honestly, I had no idea 4.2 GHz was below average for an OC on a 3600. How long passed between running Cinebench and shutting it down? Because I’m really curious about the standard boost window for the 3600. Are boost windows and power limits more often discussed in Intel OC conversations?
High temperature warning triggered. I maintain this setup at 2700x HTCPC. Defaults only use base clocks at 3.7GHz and operate P-state voltage at 1.212V. To conserve power, switch winders to power-saving mode while c-states remain active if enabled in BIOS.
