I recently purchased the last of us part 1 on Steam, but when I try to launch it, a warning appears about insufficient RAM or VRAM, suggesting safe mode. Despite having enough RAM and a 16GB VRAM with a 3060 Ti 8GB graphics card, the issue occurs before even opening the menu. Launching in safe mode causes problems, and I’ve checked forums like NaughtyDogs for solutions but found none. I attempted clearing Steam, cleaning cache, boosting virtual memory, and reinstalling drivers, yet nothing resolves it. I’m reaching out for help since I’m stuck and no answers have come through.

You're asking about the meaning of booting in safe mode and what it implies. It sounds like you're wondering why the game doesn't work properly after starting in safe mode, and whether you should try reinstalling or wait for a response from the developers.

A bit uncertain about this, but it seems likely most other processes were active at the same time. I experienced a VRAM crash during video encoding after only opening Chrome.

Complete the shader compilation and check the progress indicator. Restart the game. Navigate to settings > system > advanced system settings and adjust your page file size to 2-3 times your RAM amount. Reboot. In the same settings window, explore visual effects > best performance to lower Windows VRAM usage for rendering windows and other elements. I tested this on a system with 16 GB RAM, an RX 570 GPU, and 4 GB VRAM at 1280x800 resolution; it finished successfully. Note: Consider downloading an older game version from alternative sources, as the error message might have been fixed in a newer patch.

I've already attempted it after a fresh restart, but it still didn't work. I increased the virtual RAM to 1.5 as suggested in the video guide, but tried 2 and 3x too. The shader cache never compiled properly—it stuck at the same values shown in the screenshot every time, even after restarting. Regarding downloading an older version of the game, I prefer using this one instead of risking more hassle; it doesn't change anything, but I still get that pop-up. I'm likely to try a reinstall, though I couldn't find anyone who had success with it. I don't know what's going on at Naughty Dog either, and I haven't even received confirmation that my ticket was sent.

Is this a case of the INTEL CPU Shadercache out of memory error? What CPU platform are you running? Known issue, not everyone effected.

Determine your real RAM consumption and provide an update. Avoid altering virtual memory settings unless necessary. Track RAM activity and send a report.

I own an AMD Ryzen processor, specifically the Ryzen 3 3700X. I think the problem might not be the CPU itself since the game runs smoothly without any memory issues or crashes.

I verified the stats: RAM is about 11GB, VRAM around 7GB, and GPU usage hits 99% when no other apps are active.
