I have it on Steam, starting at level one, alright I think I need to take out the guard, I did, instant wallhack mode turned on for all enemies, they’re firing through walls, what the hell??? I managed to handle that just about. Get into the jeep, fire on the enemy, according to the game I shot the car instead of the enemy through the vehicle gaps, so I died from the explosion. Uninstalls Far Cry 1.
It seems better? I enjoyed FC1 until shooting became tough and you take a lot of damage quickly, which is okay. However, the enemies keep hitting me through solid walls without much issue. I was inside their building searching for ammo and health while taking hits from three enemies coming through the wall. It looked like the walls didn’t exist.

Unfortunately, the 1.4 update introduced stealth-breaking features that let enemies see through walls and sometimes shoot you through them. There are also numerous bugs that were previously absent. I played it multiple times after launch and enjoyed it, but now it feels like a waste because of the developer’s interference. If you can play it without the 1.4 patch, it’s still worth trying; otherwise, you’re losing your money. A big disappointment to its original promise.
I remember there was an unofficial patch for the community that fixed the wall hacking problem, but I don’t seem to be able to locate it anymore.
I guess I didn't encounter that bug when I played FC1 through Steam because I installed the 64-bit patch right away. Far Cry 1 is awesome, though. My fav Far Cry, and one of my very favourite FPS games. I spent so much time in the jungle on the early levels, not doing anything particular other than just chilling.
