It is a single-rank model.
The 2x16GB configuration offers little benefit compared to a 4x8GB setup with single-rank memory.
16GB offers flexibility in setup. I previously purchased a 2x16GB package that was single-rank. If you acquired a dual-rank 2x16GB kit, performance will match a 4x8GB single-rank arrangement. Running four separate sticks means the two DIMMs in each channel function like a dual-rank stick.
Uncertain about this. 16GB has been moving toward single rank recently, and it wouldn't be unexpected if most or all are now single rank. For performance, I'd anticipate two dual rank modules working similarly to four single rank ones. You already have the 4x single rank setup, so you're finished. Anything else would require more cost and effort with little benefit.
