It doesn’t increase performance at all!
Running a 15 3300 with an Intel desktop board, DH61CR, 4 Gb DDR 1333, and a 10 GB HDD. I use it for a Plex server where I only need half-transcoded streams, mostly without any conversion except for HEVC. This configuration is outdated for me to maintain daily, so I switched to another machine with Plex client on the same network. Generally, newer systems handle direct play well, even with 4K HEVC. The issue now is that the CPU is rated for turbo boost up to around 3.3 GHz. When transcoding streams, it barely reaches 2 GHz, hovering near 1.5 GHz. Task manager shows usage under 70%. It's running on integrated graphics, which used to be at full speed. I'm not sure what caused the drop, but it now consistently hits 2.9 GHz.
