It looks like the 670 is gradually losing its strength, and poor optimization isn't making things better.
Looking at the MIP setting now can help smooth out performance issues without affecting frame buffering. This adjustment is likely the best way to reduce stuttering other than capping the game at 30 FPS in the graphics settings. It's understandable that it might not be ideal, but the texture streaming is currently poor. The main fix would be to enable fixed rendering and see if that improves things. It's uncertain if Ubisoft will make changes, but disabling mip mapping or locking it at 30 FPS could yield noticeable results.
Ubisoft developed this title, but its performance is quite lacking. It makes sense that the 670 (760) struggles significantly on it. The frame rate is roughly one-third compared to FC3 even at the same settings.
It's not entirely the performance of the 670 that's the problem it's the poor multicore implementation that's causing most of the issues. It runs like crap on my 760's too, the hitching makes it unplayable. All that you can really do about it is wait for it to be patched.
The GTX670 isn't the same as the GTX760... GTX660 is just the GTX660 ti version. The 670 didn't receive a replacement since with the stock clock it only shows a 5% variance from the 680. Plus, those chips run at 1200MHz or more and exceed GTX770 benchmarks, which is why they're no longer available.
The 760 performs better compared to the 660 Ti and uses a cooler and PCB similar to the 670. It also tends to be slightly faster in benchmarks. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7103/nvidi...0-review/2
