Hello, I recently considered enhancing my PC specs to enable 1440p gaming, but then reassessed the situation. The typical price for a 1440p monitor, which I've seen, could easily bring my total spending up to around $850-1000. This figure already covers the cost of a 980Ti graphics card as well. I'll discuss this further later. At first glance, that amount feels substantial and would take some time to acquire. Nevertheless, I managed to save enough for my build. I opted for the 980Ti since it's a newer model, offers plenty of VRAM for modding (which I believe is useful for running games at higher resolutions), and isn't as costly as the Titan X. Together, these factors would make this card a strong long-term choice in my system, something I wouldn’t need to replace soon. Still, since gaming demands grow continuously, I'm curious—would switching to 1440p be worthwhile based on your own experiences?

It's a good investment, though 4K comes with some notable downsides right now. With 1440p you can enjoy high-quality images or TN panels, 144Hz refresh rate, G-sync support, and plenty of other perks!

No 4K offers significant downsides at the moment. I'm using an IPS 27 at 60Hz and I really love it—it's totally worth the investment. Avoid getting a GTX 980 Ti unless AMD releases a new flagship card; it might be more affordable and faster. My setup includes an AMD R9 295x2, which performs better than the Titan X, and you can find it for around $600.

You've just noticed a limitation—60Hz instead of a higher refresh rate like 144Hz or 1440p.

It isn't seen as a disadvantage; opinions vary, with some favoring a higher refresh rate and others preferring greater resolution.
