This device attempts to mimic monitor placement, similar to Sonarworks. I can easily notice the variation when connecting my headphones to the Audio Kontrol 1 versus the front jack. The Audio Kontrol 1 delivers a direct signal with a traditional stereo setup, where sounds are panned more to the sides. When placed on the front jack (near the motherboard), it creates an unusual sensation—like an internal algorithm is modifying the raw audio. It’s difficult to explain without prior knowledge of audio processing. I’ve checked Realtek models and it seems post-processing is turned off. The main issue is that the Audio Kontrol 1 is quite outdated and failing, so I might need to replace the DAC if I can’t restore the sound quality on the motherboard.
