Hey there, fellow gamers! I recently installed an AM3+ system with an FX-6300 as my secondary PC for racing games on the TV. However, the Northbridge is getting extremely hot—hard to handle without burning fingers after just a few seconds. I managed to overclock it to 4.2/4.4GHz without issues, and the VRM heatsink feels warm but not overly so. Even after turning off OC and boosting, the Northbridge still behaves erratically. Any tips would be super helpful since I’m new here and unsure where to start. Also, just a note on my specs: RAM is 18GB DDR3 at 1600MHz, motherboard from Gigabyte GA-78LMT with USB3 support.

Processors heat up quickly. Your finger isn't designed for such high heat. What's the real temperature?

The northbridge seems to be the issue, but I couldn't locate any information on its temperatures using HWMonitor.

It seems there was a misunderstanding. I'll make sure to include it in my profile or at least address it. Anyway, trying to check your finger for durability isn't the best method for evaluating a CPU's temperature.
