Have you tried running Curve Optimizer? You can lower the voltage and achieve improved temperatures and performance.

That's a perfectly healthy 5900x.

I had no idea about that before. I checked it up and it seems like something I might easily mess up. *note* It took over an hour and a half for the changes to take effect, restarted, but nothing actually updated. I tried the Start Optimizing option and clicked All Cores. Updated on September 9, 2022 by NeoMink

I achieved it using Ryzen Master. It’s quite challenging to make mistakes. I successfully reached a -29 on my 5600X.

It was updated via Ryzen Master. After trying again, it performed better but kept the temperature at 30°C instead of the usual 90°C. I undid the changes because it didn’t work as expected. I’m curious why this reversed the effect. I’d prefer a cooler idle temperature for tasks using only 1-2% CPU. I think I’ll stick with my current setup and avoid high temps during gaming. I won’t be upgrading to another AMD model next time. I’ve never had a gaming PC overheat before—it’s really annoying. I might consider going back to the i7-8700K since the performance gap isn’t noticeable. Thanks for all the advice!

~20w gap. That's negligible. The main reason for your warmer space isn't the high idle temperature—it's probably your 450w GPU. This is the second post I noticed about Dark Rock Pro 4 underperforming this week.

I entered the bios settings and turned off PBO entirely, focusing on lowering temperatures. It didn’t exceed 60°C, though it came at a price of around 15–20 FPS loss—but that’s what had to be done.
