Hi, this situation has likely been discussed before. I own an external drive filled with music that I've ripped onto it. When trying to play them on my latest Windows 10 computer, most don't work. It looks like a DRM problem, and Microsoft is reportedly investigating it. After converting the music from XP to WMA files using Windows Media Player, I'm quite frustrated because the current version doesn't support those files. Do you have any options other than re-ripping the CDs? Is there anything I can do to address this issue? I'm the legal owner of the CDs or files, and either Microsoft or the music industry is blocking access. What steps can I take to challenge this? Regards, Judgeozz

I encountered this problem before and resolved it using a DRM removal tool. The link I recalled was https://www.aimersoft.com/drm-media-converter.html. It’s been a while, so I’m not certain about the exact method.

The WMA format is quite problematic, many devices can't read it and there are DRM complications. Next time you copy a CD using a media player, I suggest switching to MP3. The DRM exists mainly to stop people from sharing their CDs online.
