I have a valid Windows 8 copy, upgraded to Windows 8.1 some time ago, and now installed Windows 10 via CMD using the /wuauclt.exe command because one of my files was damaged. I expected a prompt but saw the activation message "Windows can't activate. Try again later." The details section is blank except for an empty box. Assistance needed.

EDIT 1: I reinstalled through the Media Creation Tool using the "upgrading" option. For some reason, it replaced my Windows 8.1 Pro key with a generic one (3V66T), which caused problems. If you’ve had success, do you have a different key?

EDIT 2: Finally it worked. Open the activation tab, click activate, and keep pressing it continuously while loading. It will fail initially but retry repeatedly—just like it did for me. Press that button many times.

I thought I’d stop by and note that the Microsoft forums are really sluggish, possibly affecting the license validation. Also, the update download on my machine has slowed down significantly to around 160KB/s.

You're experiencing problems with your activation process, and both phone activation attempts have failed.

Same here, "Can't activate, try again later." I own a genuine W8.1 Pro key. Updated using the W10 media creator tool.

It's not applicable here. We're discussing the official Windows 10 release today, using our own original keys.

Sorry for that. This issue appears when trying to activate Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center or Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. You may encounter this after using Add features to Windows 8.1 or adding features to Windows 8. To resolve it, ensure you have the correct product key from your purchase confirmation email or DVD. If the problem persists, reach out to Microsoft Customer Support.

Alternatively, if you added the Windows Media Center Pack and entered a new product key, you can try activating Windows via your phone. Follow these steps:
1. Swipe from the right edge of the screen and tap Search.
2. Type SLUI 04 in the search bar and select it.
3. Proceed with the on-screen instructions.

I've already attempted that approach, but it's still not resolving the problem. Microsoft will reach out tomorrow to address this issue. I've checked different SLUI codes and other settings, but I'm really frustrated. I don't know how to fix it or get a clean reinstall.

I've already handled it; the tech support didn't help much and they promised to call you back.
