I built my Ryzen system with a Ryzen 3 2200G OC at 3.875GHz, a Vega 8 OC at 1.6GHz, and a SoC running at 1.15V with dual 4-core CPUs. I also added a 2666MHz OC with 3200MHz CL16-18-36 and a 1.35V module. The motherboard includes a Gigabyte GA-AB350M Gaming 3 BIOS with the latest update (F23). I attempted to disable DDR4 gear-down mode but it kept appearing, causing a boot failure and forcing DualBIOS activation. Need advice on resolving this issue.

I'm facing the same problem and would really appreciate more details on how to begin.

Gear Down mode just allows using an odd Cas latency with your memory timings. You don't have to use it when your memory's XMP is CL16 and even. Are you thinking about "Power Down mode" instead? This option prevents the memory from going into a low-power state.

Hey shrimp hru doing I feel he and I both arnt confusing the two atleast I'm trying to disable gear down mode to get a bit more performance out of my overclock but it refuses to post when it is set to disabled and ik my ram can do it I've had it set with 3200mhz before but I didnt know much back then.....also I have gotten my hynix overclock stable today tRCDRD up 1 AND TRP up 1 and everything fine

You don't have to alter Gear Down setting. When the memory is XMP with an odd Cas Latency value, the board turns this off automatically. If you set Cas 15 and turn off Gear Down, but the board refuses to respond, it means the board or CPU dislikes that latency choice. In this case, the memory with Jedec is set to Cas 15 at 2133mhz, and Gear Down is already disabled. Essentially, Gear Down is just a basic option. I find it unnecessary. Leaving it auto and entering CL 15 will push it up to 16. For overclocking or fine-tuning, Power Down mode seems more practical.
