Issues with the M.2 port on the GIGABYTE Z170 motherboard
I'm working on improving an older configuration (I7 6700k, GTX1060) with a Samsung 980 Gen 3 NVMe M.2 storage. The motherboard is a GIGABYTE Z170M - D3P, which isn't widely documented online beyond some early builds. The M.2 slot is present but doesn't display itself in the BIOS setup, even though it's marked as usable. The system runs DUAL BIOS Version F4 (last updated 2016), but GIGABYTE doesn't list the board on their site. It appears to be a downgraded HD3P-Bios version missing the PCIe slot configuration. Could the slot exist but isn't properly connected, or is a BIOS flash needed to enable it?
