Issues with the Liquid Freezer II 360 model 1.5L-13600KF
Hey there, I just finished a fresh build and opted for the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 rev.7. I’m noticing something unusual—my temps seem higher than expected. For instance, during the Aida64 Extreme Stresstest on the CPU, I reached 90°C in just seconds. The Cyberpunk benchmark with FSR off and full load (no ray tracing) showed 65°C max with spikes up to 75°C for a single second. My system specs are: RX 7900 XT XFX Merc 310, 16GB LFG 6400 MT/s, Corsair Vengance MSI PRO Z790-P, and a radiator-mounted fan inside the case with an external fan for airflow. Idle temps sit between 30-35°C, and at 50°C they increase to 50%, 80% at 60°C, and reach 100% at 70°C. Any insights from someone more experienced would be great! Thanks ahead of time.
I don’t see anything incorrect here. Aida64 represents excessive heat, even when compared to other CPU stress tests. The 13600K is a hot chip, so you’re not reaching thermal limits or anything unusual. Consider boosting your pump speed in the BIOS or via a program if feasible. 60-70% should suffice. Running a fixed higher speed for an AIO pump is preferable to allowing fluctuations, as the latter leads to more wear than a steady pace. Overall, your temperatures appear normal; I wouldn’t have any worries if this were my setup.
Thanks for your response! The Liquid Freezer II 360 rev.7 requires merging the fan and pump functions into a single header, as they suggest. They recommend setting the CPU_FAN pin to control this combined setup.
In my earlier message I noted that using the 5000D Airflow case from Corsair doesn’t fit well in a push configuration. This led me to mount the radiator inside the case normally, but the fans outside are pulling air through it for exhaust.
I modified the front and added more on the sides, bringing the total to six intakes and four exhausts (including the radiator). I chose "be quiet! Pure Wings 2 120mm" for those. Here are some images to clarify my setup: top-mounted fans drawing air through the radiator: https://i.imgur.com/XKGiU3B.jpg Front/side fans pulling air in: https://i.imgur.com/XfJ90rA.png Overall view: https://i.imgur.com/MDwq8EQ.jpg The GPU temps look normal, no spikes noticed—cooler is powerful enough for the 340mm card.
Great appearance! Perfect build. Yes, I won't stress about those temps. It seems you're not using AIDA64 or running Cinebench nonstop for fun. Your gaming performance in Cyberpunk looks impressive. Just relax and enjoy your new setup. Everything's working smoothly.
The temperature decreases afterward. On other benchmarks like Cinebench the readings remain stable. The CPU utilization stays within normal ranges. At standard conditions, the 13600K should not exceed 90°C even with the cooler and case, especially during stress tests unless the environment is very hot. You might want to reapply thermal paste and check pressure if issues arise.
Hello! The system operates at a steady 90°C until the benchmark ends, then drops to 30-35°C almost immediately. My room temperature is around 24°C, so it’s not very warm. I reattached the cooler and applied a new thermal paste (Arctic MX-5). The previous paste had spread everywhere and seemed to provide good contact. I’m also using a Thermal Right CPU-Frame since they claim better stability for future issues with bent CPUs from the current socket design. I discovered a "Liquid Freezer II LGA1700" upgrade kit, which Arctic might have available if needed. I also ran a Cinebench R23 Multicore test; here’s a screenshot from 5 minutes into the run from HWMonitor.
This update removes the need for the upgrade kit in Rev 7, so it wouldn't affect anything.
I've adjusted the cooler again, and... Cinebench/Aida64 now reach their limits at 80°C which is significantly improved! One of the mounting points where the coolers were attached was slightly off, likely creating a small gap. Cyberpunk still operates between 65-80°C, with about half the cores at 65 and the other half at 75-80. Another game I played was "Squad," a Milsim, it caps at 60-65 before and after I repositioned the cooler. Overall performance hasn't changed much. Edit: I discovered something interesting to highlight—both Pump and Fan might be managed by the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard, while the Pump already hits its maximum speed at 40% PWM. That means I can still apply a fan curve to lower noise when idle, just starting from 40% to maintain pump efficiency.
