I assembled a fresh build with a new PSU, an ASUS Z97-A, Intel Arc A380, 4790K, and dual 4GB RAM. The M.2 slot is present. LEDs should activate via BIOS or power button—trying the screwdriver won’t help. I suspect the CPU might be faulty. Check if the chipset matches your components or look for error codes.

Turn off all unnecessary components. Begin with the mainboard, attach the CPU with cooler and fan, and place RAM outside the case. Then connect the PSU. Try to power it up using a screwdriver on the third and fourth top pins on the left front panel cluster.

I completed this except using the GPU without power. In the situation, I’ll attempt this again. Also, I’ve tested starting without the CPU to check if the MBO LED activates for a CPU issue, but it didn’t work.

Based on this advice, your issue matches the initial part where the system fails to power up, though you have a power LED on the motherboard. The TPU and other switches on the MBO also show lights that turn off when flipped.

These parts are quite outdated... were you purchasing them secondhand? Or have they functioned well in previous projects? You might want to begin with an UEFI upgrade and check if it resolves any issues. (Suggest the beta Z97-A BIOS 3503 from the site)

I purchased them used and haven’t tested them before; this is my first attempt at using them. I plan to apply the BIOS update since that’s the only option besides replacing components—I’m not sure if the CPU is faulty unless I have spare parts, which I don’t. I’ll try the update tomorrow morning and review the manual for guidance. It seems a working CPU isn’t necessary for the update; just powering it on works.

I've handled this before with my B550 since my 5800X/G required a BIOS update for Zen 3. I'm not sure if the system would boot normally, but I'm confident the flash should resolve the issue.

I doubt I can proceed without the bios information. The guide doesn’t mention updating bios outside of the system, so there might be another method to identify issues.
