Issues with the Asus TUF GAMING FX504GD keyboard are reported.
Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with my Asus TUF GAMING FX504GD laptop. After booting Windows 10, the "welcome" screen appears along with time information. The laptop automatically presses the minus key on the number block, showing a login prompt that fills with negative signs. This continues until any key is pressed. Once logged in, I open Notepad and pressing the minus key results in no key being registered. However, using Ctrl+Shift or Ctrl+Alt causes it to type continuously until another key is pressed. I've tried reseating the KB cable and resetting the BIOS, but nothing has helped. The problem also occurs in Linux, indicating it's not an OS-specific issue. I'm unsure if it's just a faulty minus key or a full keyboard problem. Any advice would be appreciated.
I've just taken out the cap nad X holding system and attempted to test the microswitch under the cap, but it doesn't respond in the Keyboard Test Utility. Will removing this microswitch fix the problem or is it elsewhere? I believe I can function without the extraction minus key – auto typing is really annoying.
