I attempted to use system restore via the restore point feature, but the laptop froze for three hours with a message about restoring files and registry. After forcing a restart, many applications stopped functioning, and taskbar icons disappeared for certain programs. The laptop also behaved oddly. What should I do next?

It seems Windows might be problematic, so a fresh installation could be the best choice.

Pave & nuke Windows solutions often fall short, and attempting fixes can be extremely time-consuming. I hope for a more effective answer, but in practice, most operating systems—even Linux—require a deep understanding of the issue to restore normal operation.
