This build was completed using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, paired with an MSI RX 4060 Ti GPU. The motherboard is an ASRock B650i Lightning, and the system runs Crucial Pro RAM (32GB, 2x16GB) at DDR5 6000MHz. The M.2 slot contains a Samsung 970 EVO PRO, and the SSD is a Samsung 2TB. The cooling solution is a CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML240L, powered by a Segotep 750W PSU with 80 Plus Gold certification. The system runs Windows 11.
I recently installed this configuration on an old PC using a M.2 SSD and Windows 10. It started up without issues initially, but driver installation became very slow and unstable—mouse movements were choppy, and basic applications lagged. I checked all drivers and even updated the BIOS to the latest version, but the problem persisted. After trying several older versions of the NVIDIA driver, I’m still experiencing performance drops. It’s unclear exactly what’s causing the issue, but any advice would be very helpful.
Completed the build and used my m.2 ssd with windows 10 from my previous computer.
Restart the system, then rebuild your bootable USB installer, and install the OS in offline mode. Once the installation finishes, manually add all platform drivers through an elevated command prompt. Ensure you're using the most recent BIOS version for your motherboard.
