I began exploring ETC mining on my gaming PC to dip my toes into the crypto and Linux scene. After installing the Nvidia drivers, I tried Claymore's dual miner but only achieved around 10.5 MH/s on my 980ti. I attempted to run CUDA for better performance, though it didn’t install properly. Recently, I saw a helpful post in the mining forum and followed its steps. I reached the setup stage for Xorg but faced some hurdles. After running the installation command, I encountered an error: reading package lists... Building dependency tree... The build-essential is already up to date (12.1ubuntu2). Several packages failed to install, possibly due to an unstable distribution or missing dependencies. This could indicate a problematic setup or outdated source. The relevant details might clarify the issue and guide a resolution.

Consider installing build-essential along with xserver-xorg, p7zip, xorg-dev, libgtk-3-dev and dmux. This will provide choices for handling the required dependencies.
