I experienced RAM problems recently, sometimes the system reserves half of its RAM for the OS. There are occasional speed issues, so I'm wondering if updating the BIOS would help or if the power supply is the real cause. My setup includes a MSI A320M PRO-VH PLUS CPU, Ryzen 5 1600, 2x CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR4 2400MHZ 8GB RAM, and a GIGABYTE AORUS GTX 1660 TI with 6GB. The PSU is SMART POWER 450W with 80+ BRONZE rating.
The PSU isn't related to your problem. The system being locked shouldn't matter unless you're facing out-of-memory issues.
It mostly doesn't relate to that, though refreshing the bios is usually advised.
The problem lies in the faulty board featuring a dated BIOS and chipset driver. Additionally, the power supply is of low quality and may break, risking damage to components.
