Issues with RTX 2060 performance
Purchased a defective RTX2060 hoping to repair or upgrade it for a friend using an RX580. Seller mentioned artifacts and crashes but lacked technical expertise, opting for a replacement card instead. I brought it home, cleaned it thoroughly, and after installing the driver post-Geforce Experience update, the issues vanished. Running tests showed high temperatures and clock speeds not matching specs. Adjusting settings helped temporarily, but crashes resumed upon restart. Eventually, the artifacts reappeared after resetting the card. I explored further tweaks like disabling updates and running diagnostics, which sometimes resolved the problem. Despite these efforts, the card continues to exhibit instability. I’m unsure if it’s a hardware fault or just a software glitch. Seeking advice from others on possible solutions.
I was considering the VBios as well, though I’m not sure what you did to it. A reflash seems like a solid starting point. Besides addressing VRAM instability or failure, you’d likely need to raise the voltage and lower the clock speed, but those are the main options.
There are available tools and bootable USB drives that assess VRAM to identify faulty RAM modules. The next phase involves removing the faulty part, reballing it, and re-soldering it. Solder joints within the core may also be an issue, which is more challenging to resolve. Other potential problems could exist.
