The process of setting up a local user didn't happen during my recent Windows reinstall. There seems to be another method involved.
In the run box select "control userpasswords2", dismiss the prompt about requiring login credentials, and click OK. It will prompt you to enter the default username and password for login. The account already has a password, so you won't need to log in repeatedly.
Known as a broad image applied to imaging tools, it simplifies management tasks without requiring constant user adjustments. Impressed me the first time I saw it in action. OR (depending on the situation) if swapping equipment, just apply the new profile directly.
