I just installed a new computer (first one) with a 4070ti AMD Ryzen 5900x Trident Z Neo. It has 3600 MHz, 2x16GB RAM, and all components are functioning properly except for memory. I own a 32GB kit of Trident Z which, when I open Google or any game at least once a day, causes errors about insufficient memory or crashes, then it works again the next day. After the crash, Task Manager shows only about 25% usage, and my Windows memory check says nothing is wrong. I’m not sure what’s happening, but it seems like either too much memory is being used for one task or Windows isn’t accessing the full capacity. Sorry for the confusion. Edit: after a crash, the committed memory is usually high (70/85GB), but the used memory stays low.

We should check the memory consumption just before the crash. Keeping the Task Manager open, switching to the details view and sorting by memory usage would help. After that, run the computer normally and observe if any application begins to consume more resources.

This level of commitment seems unusual. Typically, a modest increase like 33GB on a 32GB device is acceptable, but 85GB is excessive. What might be driving this large overcommit?

I verified it seems typical given committed memory, possibly due to partitioning some SSDs, though I didn’t do that manually. I’ll update the memory usage after another crash at @Eigenvektor.
