Issues with rear speakers, center speaker, and subwoofer functioning after updating to Windows 11 on a new PC?
I own a brand new Windows 11 PC that I built myself, and the store staff assembled it for me. After installing Windows 11, I'm facing issues with certain devices. One challenge is configuring my 5.1 speakers. The motherboard is an MSI PRO B840M-B, which supports 7.1 audio. My previous PC had standard five audio ports on the board. This new board only has three ports—green, blue, and pink. The front left and right speakers are working, but the rear speakers, centre speaker, and subwoofer aren't. I think I need to remap the blue line-in port to output to the rear speaker and the pink port to centre/subwoofer. I tried using Realtek Audio Console, changing the settings, but it still doesn't work. MSI center indicates there are no drivers available, and they asked for downloads. Please help.
The mobo is an MSI PRO B840M-B with 7.1 audio. It features an ALC897 audio chip and a modest VRM area, though it may support 5.1 audio output. Rear speakers, centre speaker, and subwoofer are not functioning. Did you install the latest Realtek audio driver from the motherboard's support page? Right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator. Then use Realtek's Audio Console from the Microsoft store. What is the make and model of your speaker system? It’s recommended to connect each rear audio port separately—start with the green port for front output, then the blue for rear, and finally the pink for center and subwoofer. MSI center indicates no drivers are needed. Avoid using apps to check pending updates; verify on the motherboard's support site and install drivers manually. Also, confirm whether you installed the operating system in offline mode.
The audio driver on MSI's site is version 6.0.9918.1, which matches what I currently have. I re-downloaded it and ran it with admin privileges.
Realtek Audio Console was active after the desktop started for the first time. It seems to have been installed automatically.
My speakers are Logitech, but I don't know the exact model. The method I described for connecting the audio cables was the one I had previously followed, and I repeated it now.
I installed Windows 11 Home from a DVD, and there were downloads during the process. That likely coincided with the installation of the Audio Console.
Thank you, but I mentioned in my original post that I use version 5.1.
Speakers from Logitech are available, though I don't have the exact model. It would be helpful if you could share a photo of your setup.
It is important to note that you have 5.1 channels. The diagram shared by @ubuysa illustrates connectivity for 4 channel, 5.1 channel (middle diagram), and 7.1 configurations. Please also verify the internal case connections where relevant. Consult the Motherboard's User Guide or Manual for details on connecting audio inside the panels.
You're certain the front audio port on the case is securely connected to the motherboard? It's something a builder might overlook easily.
