Issues with RDR2 LOD appear when antialiasing is disabled.
Hello team, I’m facing an issue with Red Dead Redemption 2. When I disable antialiasing (TAA and DLSS), the LOD of objects begins to break down, causing visual artifacts. Pay close attention to fences and trees.
For better understanding, here’s a video I recorded: https://youtu.be/hPwZoDL0-V4
I’ve attached images for reference when viewing from a distance or up close:

When I enable TAA or DLSS, the problem disappears, but I don’t want to use those settings since they make the image too blurry.
I’ve already reached out to Rockstar support without receiving assistance. Here’s a list of things I’ve tried:
- Manually increased LOD in Settings → system.xml
- Verified game file integrity via Steam
- Reinstalled the game
- Updated the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Cleared local data from the Rockstar Games profile
- Restarted Windows, graphics drivers, etc.
I even reformatted the PC, installed everything, but the issue persists.
The system details are:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Graphics Card: EVGA RX 3080 Ti
Motherboard: MSI Tomahawk B450
RAM: G-Skill Trident Z, 32GB, 3600MHz
Monitor: 48-inch LG OLED-C1, 120Hz
Storage: NVMe SSD 970 EVO Plus, 500GB
Thank you in advance.
Thanks for the response, what specific adjustments should I consider?

The game is recognized as being poorly optimized, yet it performed adequately on my GTX 1080 after following this guide, which I strongly suggest you watch. It's also important to ensure your GPU driver is up to date, not just for DLSS but for full support, as DLSS 2 could enhance image quality if you haven't tried it yet.
I've tested all the graphic options, but the issue seems to be linked to the antialiasing setting.

how to fix TAA blur :: Red Dead Redemption 2 General Discussions
i'm playing at 1080p with high TAA, but the game still looks blurry. when i turn off TAA, the blur disappears but the overall quality drops.

Going straight to the point.
Since you have Nvidia, TAA needs to be enabled to prevent this problem from occurring. There’s really nothing you can do about it.
Activating DLSS triggers TAA because it relies on it for upscaling sharpening.
I’m not sure why it appears blurry when using DLSS either.
I can try setting DLSS to quality mode at 4K with the default TAA sharpness, and it looks clear and sharp to me.
Be careful not to have motion blur enabled, as it would ruin any clarity in the image even slightly.
A Steam community post suggests adjusting the TAA sharpness slider to reduce blur, but this is usually recommended for lower resolutions like 1080p and shouldn’t be a concern at 4K.
I'm certain motion blur isn't turned on. Perhaps your AMD graphics card is causing this issue, making the game appear overly smooth or painted, especially during movement, with all details disappearing.
He was trying to scare me off from buying a 3080 Ti in good condition I found used, but I think what he's going through is unusual. It shouldn't appear blurry even with DLSS and TAA active, particularly at 4K resolution.
