Issues with ramram upgrades
I recently switched from a 2x8 Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz to G.skill TridentZ 3600mhz, but I can't configure the correct speed in my BIOS. I've removed the CMOS battery and adjusted the CLRTC pins, yet it still caps me at 1600mhz. My RAM sticks are placed in slots 2 and 4 as specified by the motherboard, but whenever I attempt to change the speed, the system restarts to the Ameri trends screen because it resets my memory settings after an error. Could someone assist?
No changes were made to your memory settings; the system used an XMP profile.
You might want to experiment further to determine if it operates smoothly at increased voltages, reduced frequencies, or adjusted timing. Alternatively, you could discard the memory. There doesn’t seem to be another viable path, though someone else may offer more clarity on this issue.
Actually, that makes sense now. It seems likely you're using a third-generation Ryzen processor. You might want to verify this on your motherboard's manufacturer specifications page. That page lists which memory types have been confirmed compatible with your board and are reliable. If your RAM isn't listed, it likely won't work. Also, Ryzen 2000 chips often don't support very high RAM speeds.
What system are you using with the Ryzen 2700X? The Ryzen 2000 line lacks a strong Integrated Memory Controller, which means you might only get DDR4-3200 or DDR4-3400 speeds depending on your board and processor.
This board is compatible only with DDR4-3200 and Ryzen 2000-series processors. The StriX B450-F Gaming details suggest there could be an IMC constraint, though it's definitely designed for those specifications at the moment.
