I want to express how frustrated I am with this computer. I’m not a tech expert, but I used to like putting together PCs and using them for work or gaming. I’m not after anything super fast, just reliable performance. Last December 2023 I decided to upgrade and bought a new system to handle newer games better. I got a 14900k with a G-Skill 7200 chip, 15 GB of RAM, and a 14900k processor. It’s powered by a G-series graphics card. From the start, it had many problems—boot times were three times longer than my old i7, and the 14900k kept crashing during games. Even the Bluetooth adapter stopped working a while back. Recently I updated my BIOS with the latest microcode fix from Intel, hoping it would help. I’m planning to try playing Half-Life Alyx on Quest 3 with PCVR via Steam-VR. Surprisingly, it didn’t crash, though it warned me about insufficient GPU resources for a 4090. Still, it worked. I then tried California Sunshine 2 and almost immediately after starting the game it would freeze, then the computer would reset. Honestly, I feel like I should just throw this thing out the window. I’m not sure how to fix it, but why is there an issue at all? If anyone has advice, please share. Thanks in advance.
