Hey, I've seen some discussion threads about this topic, but nothing really helps.
I own a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC running on the second BIOS switch.
I'm planning to overclock it slightly to extend its lifespan.
GPU-Z info: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/details/w9493
When using MSI Afterburner, increasing the Core clock causes core and memory clocks to drop sharply to 300MHz and 150MHz respectively. This leads to heavy display artifacts and crashes during Heaven Benchmark. Resetting back to default values resolves the issue.
If you need anything else, just let me know.
😉
Thanks in advance and best regards

I resolved my problem.
tl;dr: Older Windows, older driver.
The Windows 10 Creators Update made me revert to Windows 8.1 because it didn’t work properly.
With the latest driver, I encountered KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE errors.
I then returned to 16.7.3 Crimson WHQL.
Now I can overclock it to a maximum of 1111MHz on the core and 1650MHz on the memory.
Have a nice day!
