I recently switched from an ASRock B450M Pro4 to the MSI B550M Mortar. The UEFI settings on the MSI board are quite poor. I was expecting better performance from a top-tier B550M model. The mouse cursor moves slowly at around 13 FPS, and the interface looks messy with lots of icons and menu windows. The image quality is also very low. My previous ASRock board was much cleaner and more organized. Are others experiencing similar problems? There’s also an issue with my PC booting: after shutting down or hibernating, it takes much longer to display on the monitor compared to the ASRock board. When it finally boots, I only see a loading loop before Windows loads. I have a USB drive with the latest BIOS update for this board, but I haven’t flashed it yet. Should flashing the update help fix the problem?

B550 uses a BIOS that either supports older chips or only newer ones? I’m not sure about the full range of supported devices. However, I think the wake-up and sleep functions aren’t ideal for older systems, which might relate to other issues too—similar with some modern monitors. The 13 fps setting in the BIOS seems off. I agree it feels a bit restrictive in the newer interface, making it hard to understand what’s happening or access certain features. There should be an option for boot device prompts in the BIOS, but one might be turned off. Some settings won’t change and others depend on differences between the version you have and newer releases. There should be clear documentation about these aspects.
The board is equipped with a Ryzen 3000 setup, so I added my Ryzen 3600 without needing to update the BIOS, though I did install the latest BIOS update on a flash drive just in case. The interface isn’t particularly straightforward—many menus must be opened to locate features. I was puzzled by the need to enable certain options instead of having them set up automatically. This wasn’t the case with my previous ASRock board.
