Lately I've noticed slow internet performance. Even when just one person uses the connection, speeds vary. I'm using the router package from my ISP. This is my first time dealing with networking, so I'm unsure what's causing the problem. I think the modem might be faulty.

there aren't many options available depending on your location. if others in your household have wifi, setting up a strong access point would be wise. consider purchasing a new router and possibly a modem if you can afford it. a netgear nighthawk pro works well. regarding modems, I'm not very experienced since I haven't needed to upgrade before. i hope this helps.
