I observed that my PC ran sluggishly, so I opened the Task Manager. It displayed only one core and two logical processors instead of the usual four or eight. The CPU no longer boosts to higher speeds; it consistently stays around 3.4GHz, which is its base frequency. I verified in the BIOS that all cores were active and the turbo feature was enabled. Additional details: my motherboard is an Asus Z-170K, the power supply is a DQ750ST. This CPU has been in use for about five years, and after updating Windows, performance issues began. Even after installing another Windows update, there was no improvement, suggesting the problem isn’t related to those updates. I’m hoping for assistance and that my CPU isn’t failing completely.

It's quite intriguing... This hasn't occurred before. I might attempt to reset the BIOS, but I'm keeping an eye on this discussion. Thanks for sharing—it's really cool, though a bit surprising.

Ensures your system utilizes every core and thread upon startup, rather than relying on just a single one.

I only verified that option to demonstrate my PC was using just 2 out of 8 logical cores. This wasn’t the case before. Update: I rebooted the PC and now all cores are active? (I need to be exact—restarted it about 3–4 times before posting, so I’m confused why this worked this time?)

I’m not sure if it’s possible again. I don’t understand what you’re referring to, and I haven’t made any adjustments or reset the BIOS.

i mentioned the box wasn't checked. i looked at it briefly to prove my pc wasn't displaying all the threads. the box was always unchecked whenever i restarted my computer.

Absolutely, that's exactly what happened to me.

The configuration must always maintain at least 8 logical cores; monitor it roughly every few months... if it falls to 2 logical cores, ensure the CPU or motherboard is functioning properly.

The box that isn't verified restricts the CPU to just one logical core for startup, rather than allowing multiple cores. This change might not be obvious compared to past versions, but it can improve boot performance.
