At first, when I purchased my laptop, I played GTA V and achieved around 90 FPS on 4K with very high settings. After reinstalling the game and trying to launch a new one, the FPS barely reached 30. I've disabled E-Cores and updated the NVIDIA drivers, but nothing worked. I'm puzzled as installing and reinstalling a game seems to affect performance.

Specifications:
Asus TUF Gaming F15 - FX507ZI Laptop
Processor: 12700h (6 P Cores, 8 E Cores)
RAM: 32GB at 2666MHz (with slower RAM included)
Storage: 2TB SSD
GPU: RTX 4070 Mobile, rated at 140 watts

Yes, it's possible you might have accidentally touched the mux switch.

I haven't tried the mux switch before. I always use 60hz v-sync with all my games since the CPU heats up a lot when I push FPS limits.

Are you experiencing similar issues in other games besides GTA? Reinstalling shouldn't lead to any drops in FPS, which suggests there might be an OS-related problem or a software issue. I assume you're playing GTA V with the same graphics settings and resolution as before, without making any changes. What version of the GPU driver are you using for your RTX 4070? Are you certain the game is utilizing the GPU rather than the built-in XE graphics? Since you're using a laptop, it's advisable to download and install all drivers from the manufacturer's support site instead of relying on official Nvidia drivers. Here is the link for your laptop. If you're already using this driver version, it's fine; otherwise, consider a clean reinstall or rollback of the drivers. This isn't a guaranteed fix for your current problem, but it's worth trying. NVIDIA Graphic Driver, Version V31.0.15.3645, dated 2024/03/19: https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-ga...f1...me=FX507ZI. If the problem continues, another factor might be responsible. How is your laptop's temperature performing during gaming? Are there any overheating signs?

GTA V at below 30fps seemed to indicate it was using the integrated GPU. It might be useful to look into Task Manager during gameplay and the Nvidia Control Panel settings.

I'm using an older driver because it lets me play RDR2 without issues. I tried the 4/16/24 driver but it didn't work. When E Cores were off, I got an extra 5 FPS. I'll check if it runs on the iris xe next.

I ran some benchmarks and the findings indicate there’s an issue with GTA V.
First, I opened the game in Nvidia Control Panel and set it to use the RTX 4070.
The outcomes were:
4k Very High – 25-30fps.
2k Very High – 48-50fps.
1080P Very High – 50-51fps.
That’s quite poor when compared to my old Asus TUF Laptop with a quad-core processor and an 85-watt 3070 Mobile, which managed the game in 4k at 30fps.

I don't have personal experiences, but I can provide general information about typical temperatures during gaming sessions.

It might help to adjust the resolution, but it depends on your specific situation.
