Hello everyone. I own a 1-month-old Gigabyte B450 Gaming X motherboard paired with a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. The power supply unit is an Antec 550W. It was functioning properly until recently. A few days ago, my USB WiFi adapter began behaving erratically—it would disconnect and reconnect during intense network activity. I assumed the adapter was defective, so I discarded it and replaced it with a new one. It also started acting up again. This led me to suspect power supply issues, so I connected an external hard drive. Unfortunately, it didn’t spin up at all. I checked all ports, but the no-load voltage remained around 5V. Even with moderate loads like a USB light, the voltage fell below the required level. I attempted a simulated load of 10 ohms to mimic a 0.5A draw, but the voltage dropped to nearly 1.5V, causing both the keyboard and mouse to shut down until I rebooted. Currently, only the keyboard and mouse are operational due to insufficient power. USB drives also failed to function. I initially thought the problem was with the PSU, but the 5V line appears normal. I tested with a multimeter and cleared CMOS and downgraded the BIOS, yet the issue persisted. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hello everyone! The same issue is occurring again. USB Wi-Fi drops unexpectedly, external HDDs aren't functioning, but USB keys are working. Voltage readings range from 4.6V to 4.9V. The motherboard model is B550M DS3H (version 1.x). BIOS is set to F11, and the CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G. Do you have any advice or is this the only solution with the new motherboard? Update: Recently I noticed Gigabyte released two newer BIOS versions after F11: F12 and F13a. After applying the latest F13a, I plan to check if the problem is resolved.
After update to BIOS version F13a I have to report that unfortunatelly no progress has been made. USB voltage is still in the range of 4,6V to 4,9V so I guees it will have to be a new MB.
