I received an ROG STRIX Z790-F gaming Wi-Fi with an i9-13900k, Samsung SSD 980 Pro, DDR5 32GB RAM, and a dark rock 4 Pro cooler. I have two intake and one exhaust fan. Since February I’ve noticed frequent crashes in certain games (mw2), though everything else worked fine. Now all games are crashing roughly every two hours. The only changes I made were reapplying thermal paste and tightening some CPU screws for better heat transfer. Temperatures dropped about 5 degrees. I’m confused about why my games keep crashing. My PC is also stuttering today. I turned off auto-tuning, but that didn’t help. All drivers are up to date and memory tests showed no issues. I hope someone can assist me.

The temperatures have been reduced by five degrees. Is this related to the heat? Could a new window installation help? Perhaps some components are failing?

It seems your CPU might be failing. A fresh Windows installation didn’t resolve the issue, and crashes are causing temperatures to spike to 100 degrees. You may want to try installing Windows 10 instead of 11.

Did you verify the removal of the sticker from the heatsink? You might consider adjusting your fan speeds or increasing their output.
