Issues with game performance on Intel i9 13900K and RTX 4090 graphics card.
Hello everyone, I’m facing major stuttering problems in all games, especially noticeable at low frame rates (around 1%). For example, in Cyberpunk 2077 I usually get over 100 FPS, but every couple of minutes it drops to 15-20 FPS, as seen through FrameView. This pattern repeats in Alan Wake 2, Watch Dogs 2, PUBG, and several other titles. I’ve checked all settings to the minimum and still see this issue, so it’s not just a matter of high difficulty or graphics. My hardware specs are: ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F gaming CPU, Intel i9 13900K, Corsair H150i ELITE, ASUS RTX 4090, 300GB DDR5 RAM, and an Fractal Design case. I’ve also used a Windows reinstall to fix it temporarily, but the problem returned after a short while (about 1-2 weeks). I’ve kept my system stable with a Windows update and a DisplayPort cable, only using essential apps in Steam, Wallpaper Engine, iCue, Epic, and Xbox. The GPU and CPU temps are normal, and drivers are up to date. I’m curious if the RAM might be incompatible with my Intel setup, or if the SSD could be faulty—possibly causing texture loading hiccups. After a full Windows reinstall, everything worked, but the stutter came back without any new files. Sleep cycles seem to make it worse, and uptime longer increases frequency. Any advice on how to diagnose or fix this would be invaluable. Thanks for your help.
Has it functioned before? Probably yes—it might be a problem with the newest Nvidia drivers. Otherwise, it could relate to RAM. Try running RAM at auto instead of XMP. If that fixes the issue, enter BIOS, adjust frequency to 5600, set DRAM voltage according to specs, and primary timings. Look at the SPD tab in BIOS for timing and voltage details.
