I own an RTX 3070, Ryzen 9 3900X, 32 GB of RAM, and a 850 watt power supply. During gameplay, my GPU and CPU stay near 30% utilization. Even at the lowest settings, I don’t consistently reach the required frame rate. For example, in Fortnite I’d expect around 240 fps without exceeding 25% on either component, but I often see unstable frames and drops to as low as 10 fps. In Roblox it’s been freezing randomly, sometimes cutting my FPS by about 0.2 and forcing me to press alt+F4 to recover.
It raises questions about your RAM performance, especially since Ryzen relies on both Fabric and memory clocks. It seems your RAM might have returned to standard speeds instead of XMP settings, which could be causing more strain than necessary. Games are particularly impacted by this issue.
Just confirmed it's using the XMP profile at 3000MHz, which is likely the best setting for these units.
If the components are labeled for 3000MHz, you might test them at 3200MHz. If that fails, simply reset it and return to the original frequency.
Occasionally game-related, the lowest RAM speed without XMP can range from moderate to good, but the results depend on you. I've personally experienced this at my workplace, seeing consistent performance across Windows apps, games, and multitasking scenarios. The 1% slowdowns hit gaming hardest, particularly when background processes are active.
