I changed my setup from an older configuration to a newer one recently, and now I’m experiencing performance issues with Fortnite. My current setup uses an R7 5800X3D with 32GB RAM (2x16GB) while the previous one had a R5 5600X with 4x8GB at 3200MHz. My friend suggested AMD CPUs prefer two RAM sticks over four, which seems to help. The game runs smoothly otherwise, except for Fortnite. I’ve recently returned and capped my FPS at 240Hz on a 2K monitor. In-game performance mode shows high FPS but frequent stutters, dropping to 20 FPS. Performance settings don’t seem to help, and switching to DirectX 12 causes even more stuttering—three times worse than normal. On DirectX 11 it’s still problematic. I tried a driver removal/installation, but didn’t reset Windows. My specs are: 4080 R7 5800X3D with 32GB RAM (2x16GB @ 3600MHz), previous system had 32GB (4x8GB @ 3200MHz) and a Samsung EVO 980 SSD. I’m not comfortable with BIOS tweaks, so I need clear guidance. Please share any steps that might fix this without me spending too much time searching.
