Yesterday I began downloading this game and completed it around 90 percent before I had to turn off the computer. I came back today to finish the download, but it restarted from the beginning on Steam. When I click "this pc," the available space on the disc is still listed as gone, which makes me wonder if the files I saved yesterday are still present. What’s happening and how can I fix this?
You stopped the download at some point? I remember being in a similar spot when I paused the GTA V install and then turned off my computer.
I encounter this frequently because of automatic shutdowns that limit bandwidth usage after a set period. Navigate to your Steam downloads directory (/steamapps/download/*numbers*) and locate the folder for MGS V TPP. There you should find an executable file which simplifies the process. After identifying it, save the data securely, then in Steam right-click the game and choose "Delete Local Content...". Verify the move is complete. Move the contents of that folder into a common directory (steamapps/common/) under a name like MGS_TPP (e.g., steamapps/common/MGS_TPP/). When you restart the download on the same drive, it will recognize the files and resume. Be aware that files may be removed from the commons folder one by one during this process—don’t worry if they disappear temporarily. To avoid future issues, consider pausing the download and exiting Steam before shutting down, as I only experienced the problem when closing mid-download or while paused.
I thought I finished everything, but when it began downloading it deleted the file I saved in the mgs_tpp folder. It’s completely gone now—could have been an error, sorry for the confusion.
When you examine the lower part of my message, it explains that the files in the MGS TPP folder would be deleted and then restored to the download folder. I personally reached 16GB last night and encountered the same problem this morning. After moving this process, I only had 7.5GB remaining.
It looks like the previous attempt didn't succeed. Let's try again.
