Issues with Dell T3600 and RTX3050 starting up in BIOS
Hi, I installed an RTX 3050 in my Dell Precision T3600 workstation and faced a problem accessing the BIOS/UEFI setup. Pressing F2 during boot causes the screen to go black, and the CPU fan runs loudly, like it's under heavy load. The system only reaches the Windows login if no keys are pressed. This issue appears to be related to the new GPU. When I use my old Quadro card, I can enter the BIOS without problems. Anyone else had this experience? What steps should I take to fix it? Your advice would be very helpful.
I just put in an RTX 3050 into my Dell Precision T3600 workstation. Since the upgrade, I've faced a problem where I can't reach the BIOS/UEFI setup anymore.
The issue appears to be linked to the new GPU. Swapping back to the old Quadro card works fine for entering BIOS.
It might help to check if your Dell Prebuilt has any pending BIOS updates. If so, install them, then reset the CMOS and test again.
Also, could you share which PSU was installed with your Dell Precision prebuilt and how long it's been running without a replacement?
The BIOS is currently up to date. Clearing the CMOS would reset the system settings, potentially affecting performance or functionality. I'm trying to grasp why this step matters here. Regarding your T3600, the original 635W PSU has been running for about eight years without a change.
The BIOS is already current. Before starting, what impact would resetting the CMOS have in this case? I want to grasp the reasoning behind it.
Clearing the CMOS can reset any temporary settings that might remain after the BIOS update.
Regarding your T3600, it uses a 635W PSU and has been running for about eight years without a replacement. The prebuilt model was released in 2012, which means it’s roughly thirteen years old. Did you buy the used prebuilt unit?

My previous information was incorrect, I apologize. I actually purchased this machine back in 2013, and I haven't touched any of its components (aside from a RAM upgrade).
What's strange is this: While this graphics card is installed, I
can
enter the Diagnostics screen, which is part of the BIOS software. The menus appear and I can run the tests. However, when I try to enter the normal BIOS setup, the screen remains with a faint glow (a backlight behind the black), giving the feeling that the display is about to appear at any moment, but it never does.
By the way, clearing the CMOS didn't work; it only reset the system clock. Recently, I reinstalled the Quadro 4000 to check the CSM status, but there was
nothing
related to CSM in the BIOS.
Does the only remaining solution seem to be hoping for a BIOS update from Dell?
