Issues with Dell Latitude E7250 devices
I purchased a faulty Dell Latitude E7250 from a Swedish Ebay seller because I’m working on laptop repairs and learning from it. The listing mentions the machine shuts down after turning it on, without showing any screen images. This happens twice, but after the third attempt it returns to normal operation. I suspect a RAM problem, as swapping in RAM from another non-functional laptop resolved the issue. Changing the M.SATA drive didn’t make a difference. I also tried updating the BIOS, but I’m uncertain if that would help. There’s also a touchpad concern—it only functions in certain areas. A friend suggested it might be a small gap between the touchpad and the case, which is difficult to fix. Someone has a solution without ordering a new top case? My working laptop has a fingerprint reader, which my current model lacks. Hardware specs: Intel Core i5 5300U, 8GB DDR3L (1x8GB), 128GB M.SATA SSD, Windows 10 PRO x64 (upgraded from Windows 8 PRO x64). I’ve borrowed a backlit keyboard and an 8GB RAM stick to have 16GB total. In the worst scenario, I bought a cheap upgrade for around $25 USD, and I have spare parts available if needed later.
