Hello gamers, I'm facing an issue with my PC. The overclock isn't functioning properly. My setup includes a Phanteks ENTHUO PRO motherboard, an MSI Godlike X99 processor, Intel i7 6800K, Aorus 1080 Ti graphics card, Corsair Hydro H100i V2, and other components. I've replaced the fans with a 200mm Noctua model and the CPU cooler fans as recommended. Overclocking seems to only work in MSI OC mode. In BIOS I managed to push it up to 3200MHz before, but now it crashes or loops every time I try. I'm switching the CPU from 6800K to 6950X and hope someone can assist me. Thanks, Red Star Guerilla!

Enabling XMP for RAM can affect performance, especially when you later manually overclock the CPU. Overclocking without MSI OC often requires adjusting the Vcore to maintain stability. If your chip demands more voltage than standard settings, changing the Vcore may be necessary to prevent crashes.

You might want to start by checking the official documentation or support resources for your motherboard model. If you need help with XMP profiles, look for guides specific to your GPU and motherboard. Don’t worry, you can learn at your own pace—no rush! And yeah, I get it, it can be overwhelming.

Initially, don't apologize as a beginner - we all begin at different points. Because you modified BIOS settings using Windows tools, I'd revert the BIOS to its original state and reset everything (restore default configurations). Once the BIOS is back, enable XMP only. Then launch Windows. If it boots smoothly, proceed. Use fx HWiNFO to inspect RAM settings and confirm XMP profiles are correctly applied. If issues persist, investigate other users' experiences with Vcore adjustments for your CPU model. For example, if using a 1.30V setup, set that in BIOS under Vcore and adjust clock speeds accordingly. If crashes occur during testing, try increasing Vcore by small increments (0.10) until stability returns. When stable, reduce it slightly (0.05v). Locate the "OC" menu, select "Voltage Setting," and verify the CPU core voltage is set to Auto with a reading around 1.060 volts. If problems continue, check for BIOS updates—older or unstable versions may need attention.

Absolutely, keep an eye on your CPU temperatures during overclocking. Excessive Vcore can cause them to spike significantly.

Thanks, one issue with the MSI X99 Godlike is that everything works automatically in BIOS. I didn’t know how to adjust the CPU speed, but once I changed it, it dropped below zero—not up. That wasn’t what I expected. My goal was to create a USB stick with all the BIOS settings for my motherboard, but after some time I removed it. Now I’m worried it might not work anymore or something similar could happen when the PC starts up.

That wasn’t what I expected. My goal was to create a USB stick with all the BIOS settings for my motherboard, but after some time I removed it. Now I’m worried it might not work anymore or something similar could happen when the PC starts up.

yeah and now i dont delete my usb anymore i leave that stick alone for in case anything happend well you have settings in bios mode which for the cpu you get click on it to lower amd thats not good i already talk with somebody i should leave that alone whats avx i dont understand amd where do i find that avx
