Hello everyone, I recently faced a tough situation when my motherboard failed. My dad and I were searching for a replacement. We wanted to retain my current CPU because it’s quite reliable, and we also needed space for future upgrades. We discovered the Asrock Z390 Pro/Extreme 4 as a suitable choice. Two sellers came up with the board: one was a shop owner and the other a second-hand buyer. When we inquired about compatibility, both confirmed that my CPU wouldn’t fit. This seemed odd since our references indicated it should work. I’m unsure if we’re correct, so I’m reaching out for guidance. Thank you for your help!

Z390 doesn't work with Xeon processors. After Skylake, Intel ended consumer board support for Xeon CPUs. Check the CPU compatibility list on the specific motherboard site for details.

Xeon CPUs haven't been compatible with consumer boards for many years, even those using the proper socket, and you can't depend on Wikipedia to confirm compatibility. Check the original manufacturer documentation. The LGA1511 is especially tricky because there are two physically identical versions that behave differently electrically.
