I tried to boost my Ryzen 1600's performance today, but I encountered some odd problems. The CPU keeps failing to reach 4GHz no matter how much I increase the voltage, but it drops to 3.975GHz without crashing at 1.35V. It gets even more puzzling when I set it to 3.9GHz with a slightly higher voltage of 1.3375—then it scores significantly better in Cinabench by around 150-190 points. Both frequencies are stable, but the higher one runs slower compared to the lower one according to Cinabench.

Stress-test the CPU using programs such as Aida64 prior to benchmarking. The configuration with lower performance would likely fail eventually, whereas the alternative might remain stable.
