I downloaded They Are Billions on Steam and adjusted the settings before beginning a new world. When I launched it, the game automatically minimized itself. After a restart, clicking anything in the window would cause it to disappear and reappear in the taskbar, so I had to click the icon there to bring it back. I couldn't get past the main menu. I verified my video drivers and confirmed they were up to date. My Windows power plan was set to High Performance. I checked the game files and there was no difference.

Specifications: Intel Core i5-2430M, GeForce GT 540M with 8GB DDR3 memory, Dell 27" 1080p IPS display, laptop screen.

Any suggestions on what might be behind this issue?

EDIT: Game log Spoiler at 3:41 PM - Log Start at 3:41 PM - Main menu accessed. DXGame settings changed to Focused and Visible. Tables Excel read confirmed OK. x64 no preloading needed. Physics checked. Steam status verified.

System details:
- Max. Samplers: 15
- Operating system: Windows
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
- Display: Dell 27" 1080p IPS
- Log file: Started at 3:41 PM, no errors recorded.

Have you considered testing it on a single screen? The 540M isn’t ideal, but the system specs aren’t too demanding for this title. You can find more details here: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cy...ions/17332

I've configured it for your 27" screen. The 540M might be slow now, but it should handle everything you need. I can check the settings later if you want.

The issue persists across all monitors you configure, even when changing the settings in the configuration file.

I noticed Xcom2 had some comparable problems after installation. If you right-click the game in your library and go to "Properties," then choose "Local Files," you’ll still find an option to "verify the integrity of the game files." Try this method too and check if it resolves any issues.

I just tried that, no difference. I'll edit the OP to throw that in there, I did it as I was writing the post and somehow didn't think to mention it lol

Yes, removing the HDMI connection typically restores the display to your laptop's screen.

Yes, I did. It looks like I mistakenly altered the config file initially.
